New Year's Update

January 1st, 2015

Did everyone have a Merry and Joyous Christmas and New Year?

I hope everyone liked Chapter 15. I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again anyway. It’s nearly impossible for me to judge whether something I’ve written is good, bad, or mediocre. That’s not some sort of false modesty. I’ve lived with an installment for however many weeks. I have a lot of myself tied up in it, which unto itself makes it impossible for me to be objective enough to judge.

Let me qualify that a bit. I know something is as good as I can make it, but not whether that’s any good, or just acceptable. The one chapter I thought was really good – Chapter 7 – generated the least amount of feedback, that feedback being one of my primary indicators of what you the reader thinks of my effort.

Pretty much any “adult” story you read online will carry some sort of invitation by the author to send feedback. It matters, dear reader, to me and to most authors. It’s our pay, so to speak. If you’ve ever contemplated sending your thoughts to the author of any story, don’t be shy. We appreciate it.

Along with the brand spanking New Year, I’ve been contemplating some changes to the website. It seems as though the “Links” page gets almost no visitors. It also gets almost no attention from me. In looking at it, the thing is hopelessly out of date.

I’d like to fold the Links page into some cleverly titled tab like, “Letoria’s Lair” or some such name. In it, I’d post links to any number of things that interest me.

One of the things I’d really like to do is create a “Playlist” of sorts. Music of one sort or another is always in the background, if not one of the stars, of everything I write. It’s in the story, it’s always in my head, and it’s usually playing through my earbuds. I can’t carry a tune in a wheelbarrow, but I love good music almost as much as I love well-written books. I’d like to have a place to build a Karen and Laci Playlist of sorts, complete with commentary as the mood strikes me.

I’d also like to use it expound about things that are only peripherally – if at all – related to the story. There are larger subjects about which I am passionate: Breast cancer awareness, bullying, same-sex marriage at the top of the list. I’d like to vent my spleen about things that are better off somewhere other than here. I’d like to link to any number of websites I think are interesting. Whatever the name the new page is given, it’ll be a potpourri of things that don’t have a clear home yet.

I don’t see this new page being something I’d spend time working on with on a regular, but rather as the mood strikes me. In particular, I see it as something I can turn to when I’m in the grip of Writer’s Block, or I simply need a break from the writing of a chapter.

What do you think, dear Reader? I appreciate any input from you.

In the meantime, Chapter 16 is in the early stages. I hesitatingly say I think I know where the soul of the chapter lies. That’s half the battle.

In closing, I’d like to say I hope all of you had a wonderful Holiday Season, and may the year 2015 be kind to you.
